Mohammed Abutair is an independent candidate for the 2010 Palestinian presidential elections.
Mohammed is dedicated to building a stronger, prouder, more prosperous Palestine nation by delivering real results for everyday Palestinian families.
Determined to restore peace in Palestine, since 1988 Mohamed Abutair has been a member of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO). As a Senior Advisor to the late Yasser Arafat he was responsible for the development and implementation of improved PLO relationships with Israel. As a personal friend and aid to Dr. Haydar Abdechaffi, they worked collaboratively to support the Palestinian communities, especially after their common interview in Bonn 1993 (Germany)
Mohamed Abutair has spent his political career supporting the late Yasser Arafat’s political agenda in order to restore Peace within Palestine. As President, Mohamed Abutair will be committed to deliver real actions on the priorities of all Palestinian’s, more specifically to:
- ensure an immediate and unconditional end to the Israeli Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza;
- promote the right to self determination for the Palestinian People;
- support the right of return for Palestinian refugees;
- ensure Israel conforms to the European human rights legislation;
- improve living conditions in Palestine;
- reduce child poverty and increase education;
- reduce unemployment;
- improve the quality and quantity of heath care;
- form a viable Palestinian state;
- withdraw troops from occupied territories
- encourage Israel to implement Oslo I & II and halt expansion of its settlements; and Improve the quality of water and ensure its fair distribution.
Mohammed Abutair was born in (Umtuber), Jerusalem in 1966. Aged 5 he moved to California with his parents where he was educated. He returned to Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to complete his schooling. On completion of his schooling Mr. Abutair remained in the Middle East to improve his dictation in Arabic and there published a number of books in culture, drama and poetry. The proceeds from the sale of these publications were used to support children’s charities within Palestine. It was during this time that Mr Abutair first established his relationship with the PLO.
In 1991 Mohammed Abutair moved to Germany and was awarded his Masters in Political Science whilst working as a commercial airline Pilot. As a Captain Mr. Abutair holds a license to fly a number of aircrafts which include B737-300 planes and, has over 7492 of flying hours as a result of 18 years of experience. He is currently based in the UK where he has recently attained a Diploma in Business Management.
Up until the death of the late Yasser Arafat, Mohammed Abutair worked for the PLO as his Senior Advisor. He was responsible for setting up the Oslo agreement in 1993, and negotiated a number of government proposals between Palestine and her neighbors to ensure continuous support for Palestinian citizens. Mohamed Abutair is an active member of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and a holder of United Nation's Passport.
Founding principles
The Fatah Party will be guided in its constitutional framework and its policy basis by the following principles:
- build a national coalition of people who share these beliefs and who reflect the regional, cultural and socio-economic diversity of Palestine;
- develop this coalition, embracing our differences and respecting our traditions, yet honoring a concept of Palestine as the greater sum of strong parts;
- will operate in a manner accountable and responsive to its members;
- a belief in the equality of all Palestinians;
- a belief in the freedom of the individual, including freedom of speech, worship and assembly;
- a belief in our government and the democratic process;
- a belief that Christians, Muslims & Jews all have equality of status, and equal rights and privileges as to their use in all Palestine
- a belief that the best guarantors of the prosperity and well-being of the people of Palestine are:
- the freedom of individual Palestinians to pursue their enlightened and legitimate self-interest within a competitive economy;
- the freedom of individual Palestinians to reap the benefits of their own success ; and the right to own property;
- a belief that it is the responsibility of individuals to provide for themselves, their families and their dependents, while recognising that government must respond to those who require assistance and compassion;
- a belief that the quality of the environment is a vital part of our heritage to be protected by each generation for the next;
- a belief that Palestine should accept its obligations among the nations of the world;
- a belief that good and responsible government is attentive to the people it represents and has representatives who at all times conduct themselves in an ethical manner and display integrity, honesty and concern for the best interest of all; and
- a belief that all Palestinians should have reasonable access to quality health care regardless of their ability to pay.
