"HAMAS AND FATAH UNITY GOVERNMENT NOW A REAL POSSIBILITY" - MOHAMED ABUTAIR.
Palestinian Presidential Candidate, Mohamed Abutair, has today announced that he has moved a step closer to his goal of encouraging the two main Palestinian political Parties to engage in a government of national unity under his Presidency.
Mohamed Abutair, who is deliberately standing as an ‘independent’ candidate in order to facilitate the union, recently met in Tunis with the Secretary General of Fatah’s powerful Central Committee, Faruq al-Qaddumi and later this week he will meet with the Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, Khalid Mishal.
The purpose of the meetings is to begin developing a strategy which would allow Hamas and Fatah to work together as part of a unified government under his stewardship.
Mohamed Abutair welcomed the progress being made saying:
"That my campaign for change is receiving the support of both Fatah and Hamas is very encouraging and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the Leaders of both Parties to deliver peace and prosperity to our people in Palestine. Whilst technically speaking, the PLO is the organisation authorised to speak on behalf of the Palestinian people, I believe that only by bringing together all political parties into a government of national unity will Palestine carry enough weight on the international stage to allow the Palestinian people to speak with a single powerful voice"
Mohamed Abutair believes that his election could at last offer a solution to Palestine’s ongoing political infighting following the recent failure of talks in Cairo between Fatah and Hamas, which were themselves an attempt to unite the country’s political leaders.
An end to the violence on the streets of Palestine would enable a newly unified Palestinian Government to make a fresh start in its stalled peace talks with the Israeli Government of Binyamin Netanyahu, as well as offering potentially new impetus to the Obama Administration’s involvement in a lasting peace deal.

PALESTINIAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, MOHAMED ABUTAIR, SAYS
"I WILL FIGHT THIS ELECTION ON BEHALF OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE AND I WILL WIN".
Senior Advisor to former President Yasser Arafat, Mohamed Abutair, has today fired the first shot in the forthcoming Palestinian Authority Presidential Election.
Speaking in London, Mohamed Abutair said:
"For too long now, the Palestinian people have viewed the continuous failure of their current leadership with a growing sense of dismay and it is now time for a decisive and true change in government. I believe I can bring about that change through uniting all that is good within Palestinian society and casting out all that has held the people back for so long. I will stand against this failed Administration on behalf of the Palestinian people – and I will win"
Mohamed Abutair believes that because Hamas has been continually denied a proper role in the governing of the Palestinian Authority, the Palestinian people have been unable to speak to Israel, let alone the world, with a single united voice. He feels that despite Hamas winning the last Palestinian Authority Election, they have been constantly denied what they see as their democratically secured place at the table of Government. Mohamed Abutair believes this was a major mistake by the Abbas regime and that since then, Fatah appears to have lost its way. Because of this, the people of Palestine have continued to suffer.
Significantly, he went on to say:
"If I am elected President, I will offer the Palestinian people the choice of ‘Hamas and Fatah’, as opposed to ‘Hamas or Fatah’. A lasting peace with Israel is of course an issue for the people of Palestine, but more urgently, they want jobs for their youth, food for their Families, fresh water and an electricity system that works. Palestinian political infighting is all very well, insofar as it is peaceful and democratic, not bloody and destructive, but the Palestinian people cannot feed their children on political rhetoric."
In what promises to be a bitter and hard-fought campaign, Mohamed Abutair has agreed to stand in the forthcoming Presidential elections as an independent candidate, despite having been both a close senior advisor to former President Yasser Arafat and having strong ties to Hamas. His close connection to both the main Palestinian political parties has allowed him to make moves toward the kind of consensus politics he believes is vital for peace in the region and which will greatly improve the lives of ordinary Palestinians.
He is widely seen on the streets of both the West Bank and Gaza as the only man with the profile and connections within both Hamas and Fatah to defeat the current Administration and bring about a united Palestine.
Mohamed Abutair and his team are soon to meet separately with members of both the Hamas leadership and senior Fatah members who have grown disillusioned with the performance of their parties and the detrimental effect it has had on the Palestinian national cause.

"FATAH’S PROPOSED 2 YEAR PLAN FOR PALESTINE IS UNWORKABLE WITHOUT CONSENSUS AMONG THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE AND OTHER POLITICAL PARTIES" – MOHAMED ABUTAIR.
Palestinian Authority Presidential Candidate, Mohamed Abutair, has spoken out against the proposed ‘2 Year Plan’ put forward by Fatah, saying it lacks any consensus or support among either the other political parties in Palestine or, more importantly, its citizens.
Speaking in London, Mohamed Abutair said:
"I do not believe it is appropriate to discuss any plans for the next two years without either an agreed mandate or at least a consensus from all the political parties involved. The Government has the initial responsibility to unite all Palestinian citizens and political parties to ensure the groundwork is set for any future discussions. Only by following this approach will we enable appropriate and mutually beneficial decisions to be made to improve the current situation in Palestine."
Mohamed Abutair pointed to the fact that political parties Hamas and Al Jabha El Demokratia had already swiftly rejected the proposed deal, indicating that the lack of consensus between the political parties had already caused stalemate.
Mohamed Abutair is standing in the forthcoming Election as an independent candidate despite having been both a close senior advisor to former President Yasser Arafat and having strong ties to Hamas. His close connection to both the main parties in the Election has allowed him to make moves toward the kind of consensus politics he believes is vital for peace in the region and which will greatly improve the lives of ordinary Palestinians.
Mohamed Abutair and his Team are soon to meet with Hamas to discuss their concerns regarding Fatah’s proposed 2 Year Plan – a meeting which could take place in Egypt ahead of the planned discussions between Fatah and Hamas, which are being hosted by President Husni Mubarak.

- Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.
- Disarment of the Palestinian’s

The presidential candidate Mr. Mohamed Abutair considered linking the adoption of the Two-state solution to these conditions is an impediment to the entire peace process.
In his speech in Cairo the US President Obama spoke about the Two-State solution and stop building Israeli settlements on the Palestinian land. Mr. Mohamed Abutair regarded this statement as being fragile as the main factors supporting the peace process were not addressed.
